AA Cars streamlines its insurance proposition across 4,000 dealerships with Tempcover partnership
(14 November, 2022) Fleet, UK: AA Cars has strengthened its value proposition by offering customers across its 4,000-strong dealer network with a new fixed-term driveaway insurance solution that enables them to drive the vehicle immediately after purchase.
The driveaway insurance solution, developed by leading temporary motor insurance specialist Tempcover, provides AA Cars customers with the benefit of being covered by a 5-day comprehensive insurance policy straight from the showroom.
The availability of driveaway insurance will make the car-buying process simpler and more seamless for drivers, while also giving them time to review their longer-term insurance options.
Dealerships can provide access to Tempcover through a QR code, which can be scanned on drivers’ phones. They can then sign up for cover in just a few minutes, enabling them to drive away with their new vehicle with confidence on the day they buy it.
AA Cars CEO James Fairclough says: “This driveaway cover offered through our new partnership with Tempcover will make the car-buying experience much faster for our dealers’ customers. It is a convenient and simple way for customers to ensure they can drive a car away on the same day they buy. It also gives them breathing space to weigh up the pros and cons of their long-term insurance options – another great selling point for our partnered dealers to offer their customers.”
Tempcover was the first InsurTech to launch a first-of-its-kind, one-step digital driveaway insurance solution that reduces transaction times from up to an hour, to just a few minutes. AA Cars is the latest dealership network to have switched to Tempcover’s super-slick digital standalone insurance solution.
Tempcover Director of Partnerships Nick Brunton says: “We’re delighted to be partnering with AA Cars, streamlining the ‘on-the-day’ insurance process for over 4,000 dealers and their customers – our largest multi-site proposition to date. The 90 second fully digital application simplifies insurance at the point of sale allowing the customer to confidently drive their new vehicle off the forecourt.”
Tempcover’s digital driveaway insurance solution was initially developed to enable motorists to leave the dealership forecourt immediately after vehicle purchase without having to worry about the stress and inconvenience of getting short-term cover over the phone or amending their annual policy on-the-spot to drive the car home.
Then Covid struck and national lockdowns forced dealerships to shut their showrooms to the public and shift to digital sales, click & collect, and home delivery services overnight. This enabled Tempcover to shine, as its own in-house proprietary technology can be configured for single-site car supermarkets, multi-site dealer groups and fully-online platforms.
Due to the flexibility and agility of the digital solution, each retailer is given its own unique URL, where the customer can obtain a simple single-cost quote in just 90 seconds, compared to the industry standard of up to an hour, leading to considerably improved stock clearance times and greater profitability for the dealers and an improved user experience for the customer.
In addition to AA Cars, many major blue-chip dealerships, ranging from fully-digital retailers to those with a combination of physical and digital showrooms, have adopted the Tempcover proposition. These include Arnold Clark, Cargiant, Cazoo, Hendy and Motorpoint.
