Cotswold-based Entrepreneur Becomes Global Best-selling Author with Debut Book ‘Make Money Whilst You Sleep’

by jcp

An ex-International News Correspondent who’s built a career sharing global breaking news stories across some of the world’s biggest television stations interviewing the likes of; Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Victoria Beckham and Nicole Kidman, who’s now a 7 figure business owner having harnessed her expertise to help others find confidence on camera, is celebrating becoming a best-selling author having published on the 30 December 2021, what she hopes will be life changing book for women worldwide – ‘Make Money Whilst You Sleep’, in a bid to help more of us rebalance our lives whilst making more money in 2022.

Lucy Griffiths, 46, from the Cotswolds, who has over 20 years working as a TV journalist travelling the world, realigned her career in 2016 after experiencing the debilitating health condition of severe double incontinence after giving birth to her son, and her globetrotting job was no longer viable.  Lucy had reached her lowest ebb – she was a new mum, but in pain, isolated at home, feeling lost and she had lost her income.  This led to Lucy suffering with post-natal depression and her confidence was significantly affected.  After much soul-searching, support and coaching, she soon realised she needed to craft a new career, using her existing skills in a different way to enable her career to work around her life, not the other way around – when her son was diagnosed with ASD Autism, the importance of balance, flexibility and freedom became even more crucial in order to ensure she was being very present for her son’s additional needs.

With the growth of the online entrepreneurial space, along with the rise of video content as a preferred form of marketing, Lucy found where she could add value with her skills. Coming across many businesswomen who felt fear around online visibility – she saw how this was stunting their growth, and how them struggling to engage with creating video content meant they were actually hiding their skills and talents that others need. Always a ‘helper’ Lucy started to think about how, as an introvert she had managed to master her confidence on camera, to enable her to be visible on screen for most of her career and set about sharing this knowledge.

Lucy created a course which tapped into both her coaching expertise and her experience of being on camera to help other women, particularly, to find their confidence to spread their message. She created a training course, but soon realised due to demand that she could turn it into a digital course and sell it on repeat (literally making money whilst she slept or spent quality time with her son – all through passive income). She has now sold this course 50,000 times over and has generated over 1million dollars in revenue. This $19 course paid the family’s mortgage and bills throughout Covid where her other income streams dried up.

She’s helped coaches and consultants, pet-preneurs and horse whisperers, ballet instructors and beauty therapists, to turn their expertise into digital products that sell on repeat and she hopes with the book she can reach even more people.

Lucy said: “The truth is that anything is possible – I am a real example of this, and passionate about spreading this message.  I know what it’s like to feel lost and purposeless, and I also know how it’s possible to create a best-selling business from anywhere. Whether you’re a new mum, or you’re wanting to top up your pension as you head into your 50s and 60s or you’re stuck at home because going out to work isn’t an option, then creating a course can dramatically transform your life.”

“As a small business owner, I know how hard it is to do everything, but when you create a course, it frees you up to then focus on what matters to you. You can get more freedom so that you can get off the treadmill and create a life that you love. So you can earn more, work less.”

Lucy’s book, ‘Make Money Whilst You Sleep’ published by by Hodder & Stoughton in December 2021, is her latest avenue through which to create more of a ripple effect empowering others to move away from the hustle mentality that can lead to burnout and mental health struggles,  instead encouraging readers to reclaim living their lives the way they want to, using their expertise to bring passive income. Supported by leading US coaches such as; Emily Williams, Christina Jandali and Fiona Harrold, success coach, entrepreneur, and author with a seven-figure business Lucy is excited to show others what’s possible, especially post-Covid as many of us have started to re-evaluate our lives and priorities.

Lucy said; “I knew that I wanted something different for my life and the global pandemic has allowed many of us to stop, take heed and evaluate our lives. We have seen many people (myself included) move from the city to the country, we have seen many resign or work more flexibly or start side-hustles or new businesses… the pandemic has been a real catalyst for change. My book shows a real change in the approach around we do business and make money – from hustle to happiness.  Forget the old ways of unhealthy working hours and pressing pause on the life you want until retirement – especially in these uncertain economic times. As a small business owner, I know how hard it is to do everything, but when you create a course, it frees you up to then focus on what matters to you – gaining you more freedom so that you can get off the treadmill and create a life that you love.”

Top tips from Lucy’s book around how to get started with turning your knowledge into passive income include:-

  1. Think about what you know that you could teach others and get paid for it
  2. Talk to people and see if they need help in this area. How great is their pain? Or perhaps they get excited wanting to learn this skill or have this knowledge?
  3. Now test out if there’s a market for your idea
  4. Start to map out your idea. What makes you different? Is there a point of difference?
  5. Let’s see if those people who were interested want to get in early and buy it!
